ScribeFire Review

I've seen ScribeFire a few days back and wasn't really sure if it's worth a try. After seeing the ScribeFire Ads being announced, I was curious to see more.

So here's the first posting using Scribefire. It's really convenient, b/c it's incredible fast and the annoying login into my admin panel is not necessary. A simple hit on the F8 button and I am ready to blog.

I really start liking this tool, especially that it allows you to quickly edit postings.

Update: I used the promote button and it get's better and better. Someone really thought about this product.
The only thing that I kind of miss is my SEO plugin that let's me create some clean URLs / Titles and Metatags. Otherwise it's very cool.

If you are working on some SEO strategy and thinking about investing money into an SEO agency ,Text Link Network or any other Inhouse efforts, there is a new tool called Wikipedia traffic statistics tracker.

Wikipedia statistics tracker allows you to get an idea of how many visitors you'd get if you would rank in Wikipedia’s position.

Below you can see that the Wiki site “Web analytics” (currently #1 for web analytics) has been viewed 23485 times in March 2008.

Obviously Wikipedia has some significant traffic coming from outside the search engines, but you can get a great estimate of whether you want to take on Wikipedia in the SERPS or let them outrank you.

Free data mining software

Rapid-I (formerly Rapid miner)  is new and free data mining software.  Rapid I has great Visualization and got released under GPL. It can import pretty much every data , has great 2d and 3d functionality and allows more than 400 operators.

Here all the new functionalities:

  • RapidMiner now supports workspaces for different projects. The default workspace must be set during the first start of RapidMiner.
  • Training and test data do no longer need to have exactly the same structure. Changing the order of nominal values often caused problems for past versions.
  • The operator PerformanceEvaluator is now divided into smaller task dependent operators allowing for additional checks.
  • New compatibility checks for prediction models between training and application data.
  • A filter for the New Operator tab is added.
  • Added learning for numerical attributes for rule learners.
  • Improved the visualization for almost all performance criteria.
  • Added 3D visualization of confusion matrix
  • Added automatical (averaged) ROC curve visualization for AUC criterion.

Tapefailure will change web analytics with it's "Most Average Tape" feature.

When Tapefailure launched in closed beta, I was a little bit annoyed, b/c I wasn't able to get a beta account. Luckily the founders acted quickly and let me sneak a peak. Today they finally launched officially and it seems, that they came out with a big surprise:

The "Most average tape" feature let's you find out what the most common actions taken are. This means you basically can follow the average user and see how he/she surfs your site. It's not that you could not get this data before, but it would take a major effort to visualize it in a way that tapefailure does.

Tapefailure also allows you to view only the "top five" of the most average tapes, instead of all of them. Great idea and congrats for this great innovation. I will test it out  and post the results some time later.
