I usually don’t write about Web 2.0 startups unless they have something to do with web analytics, but today I found a great startup from Barcelona called Sclipo. Sclipo is a user-generated skills-network. Users share their skills and experience with others.
Today Sclipo also launched Sclipo live, which will make a significant impact on non-academic learning: With SclipoLive, a Master can instruct one or many students anytime and anywhere in the world. Masters can charge students for the class, if they want, at the price they want. All classes are recorded.
Personally I believe Sclipo is one of the best startups that I have seen for a long time. This is what I understand as a real community with real values for everybody. It is not only great to learn new things, but it is just amazing that I learn anything without having to pay a fee to some third party (like Google), which has nothing to do with producing the content of the video.
I believe the concept of viewers paying / donating directly to video “directors” is the way to go. Anyways it’s Memorial weekend… I guess I will start to learn Michaels Moonwalk….
